The interaction between building physics, façade and structural design in the light of thermal performance and structure, acoustic and sound insulation of the façade, energy- and resource-efficiency, materials i.e. construction type and life cycle costs etc. are of course a matter for us. For our clients the deriving integral approach holds a high potential for optimization with regards to economic, ecologic and social aspects.
In the field of building physics and sustainability we cover all design phases from the basic evaluation to construction for new and existing buildings. We are certified consultants for thermal and sound protection and provide the common building physics analysis. As KfW-experts we also support our clients with KfW applications.
Thermal protection and energy efficiency
We provide design consultancy for all energy standards from the Energy Saving Regulation (EnEV) through to KfW efficiency houses and passive house standard up to the plus energy house, for new buildings and existing buildings. We support clients and architects from the competition to the commissioning of the building. In our role as specialists for energy efficiency, certified passive house planners and registered energy efficiency experts for federal funding programmes, we can advise on potential savings and subsidies and take over the complete energetic specialist planning.
We support the often complex planning tasks and the detailed building physics concept with in-depth considerations, e.g. with two- and three-dimensional thermal bridge calculations and thermodynamic spatial and building simulations.
With thermal-dynamic building simulation, we provide support already in the early planning phases, e.g. for the design and planning of challenging buildings.
Building simulation allows the dynamic calculation of the thermal and energetic behaviour of buildings and technical facilities under the influence of user-related and climatic conditions. The results are time series of thermal quantities, e.g. room and surface temperatures, as well as energetic values such as heating and cooling capacities and requirements.
For example, parameters for glazing and shading systems can be optimized by means of dynamic-thermal simulation. In addition, a temperature analysis under extreme weather conditions can serve as a decision aid, e.g. for the use of active cooling.
Building sound protection
Our services for structural noise protection comprise the planning and implementation of all sound insulation standards ranging from the legal minimum standard according to DIN 4109 up to higher requirements according to VDI 4100 or DEGA for new and existing buildings as well as all building types.
If required, we carry out noise measurements of road, rail and water traffic or of industrial noise for the design of external and internal building elements and we evaluate the governing noise level. By means of three-dimensional simulations, we determine the façade noise levels in detail in order to reduce the investment costs of e.g. sound-proof windows. Quality assurance through air and impact sound measurements complete our offer.
We provide room acoustics planning for new and existing buildings as well as for residential and non-residential buildings according to the German HOAI planning phases 1-5.
Our scope of services ranges from the calculation of the reverberation times according to DIN 18041 up to the room acoustics simulation in order to determine the acoustic quality and the speech intelligibility. In addition, we advise on the choice of optimal materials for the room acoustics and propose an ideal area utilization. We can use acoustical measurements to determine the reverberation times and the speech intelligibility for different room types.
Building fire protection
We provide consulting and planning in all areas of fire protection from preventive structural and equipment fire protection through to organisational fire protection and up to the defensive fire protection. We create fire protection concepts for standard and special structures, which we coordinate with the authorities and the fire protection services of the fire brigade in order to implement the individual requirements and requests of the client/architect into a fully developed and economical solution in compliance with the building requirements. In addition to the fire protection concept, we develop fire protection plans for the visualisation of the structural and equipment protection measures.
Our services in the area of sustainable building include consulting services and the development of tailored sustainability strategies during the planning process as well as for competitions.
We support construction projects which are evaluated according to national and international green building systems. Our company provides trained specialists for the certification systems BNB (Assessment System for Federal Buildings from the BMUB), DGNB (German Association for Sustainable Building) and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
Further project-related services are analyses of emissions-induced environmental impacts and resource consumption (life cycle assessment) as well as life cycle costs.

Opening of HYUNDAI Motorstudio Goyang in SeoulIn Seoul, Hyundai's largest adventure centre just opened. On a total of 14 levels are located the new exhibition-, office-, educational- and recreational spaces. The building has also 5 basement levels, housing parking-, service areas. Delugan Meissl Associated Architects from Vienna were responsible for the design and execution, Bollinger + Grohmann were charged with the structural and façade design in this project.

Construction site of the Park Apartments Belvedere: Excursion of our Viennese teamA mixed-use building complex consisting of three residential and two hotel towers in close proximity of Vienna central station is rapidly progressing! The open ground floor space with the characteristic piles is clearly visible now. Expected completion is scheduled for autumn 2018.
Won: "Typenhochhaus 2.0"First prize for the competition team of LIN Finn Geipel, Berlin, Germany + Giulia Andi, Paris, France. The aim of the non-open ideas competition was the design of a high-rise as modular system.
Bollinger+Grohmann provided technical advice for the architects.
