The Free State of Bavaria plans a new police station building in Passau. The new building consists of 2 building parts, the police station and the adjacent parking deck in the east, which in addition houses the canteen. The existing buildings of the Passau Police are currently still located in the area of the new parking deck and will be demolished after the completion of the construction for the new station. Therefore there will be 2 consecutive construction stages.
The new station building consists of a 5-storeyed nearly square head-end building and a connecting 3-storeyed elongated building wing. The 2-storeyed parking deck is connected to the first basement floor on the east side of the station building. The canteen is located alongside the access ramp of the parking deck ground floor.
The building is designed as reinforced concrete structure with mainly flat slabs on point supports. Load-bearing reinforced concrete balustrades are used alongside the façade in order to minimize the necessary slab reinforcement and slab deformations. The lateral stability of the building is achieved by the floor slabs which transfer the horizontal loads to the staircase and elevator shaft cores and individual shear walls. The stiffening building elements are largely based on the foundation level. The parking deck will be built as massive construction with point-supported reinforced concrete flat slabs. In contrast to the station building, its foundation consists of pad and strip footings.
