Opening of the new school and gymnasium in Berlin MahlsdorfThe new school for 550 pupils was completed on time at the beginning of the new school year, along with the gymnasium. The school is the first of three model projects that the Berlin Senate has commissioned to be built as a modular timber construction. The design for all three schools is by the architects NKBAK from Frankfurt, who worked in a joint-venture together with Bollinger + Grohmann, Ecotec (MEP) and Franz Reschke Landschaftsarchitektur.

Research project RegoLight at “ZERO GRAVITY” exhibitionThe exhibition “ZERO GRAVITY” revolves around concepts and ideas that defined and changed arts and science from the moment humankind stepped on the moon. Selected material from research project RegoLight, which Bollinger + Grohmann was part of between 2015 and 2017, will be a part of media artist Peter Kogler spatial installation at ERES-Stiftung in Munich.

Installation of the timber construction modulesAfter the Marie Curie School, the August Gräser School in Frankfurt is currently being extended by a modular timber construction. The installation and assembly of the 12 modules only takes two days. The new premises should be ready for occupancy by August. B+G was responsible for the structural design as well as for the building physics.

1st prize with Nieto Sobejano ArchitectosWe are happy about one of two 1st prizes within the competition of the new event hall and hotel with underground parking in the Kaiserpfalzquartier in Goslar. B+G gave technical advice. Auer Weber won a further 1st prize.

First prize for "Bildungscampus " in PforzheimBruno Fioretti Marquez (BFM) won the competition for the "Bildungscampus" Pforzheim.
B+G supported the architects with the development of a 4- and 3-floor timber construction for two school buildings, a canteen and sports hall and the concept for the further development of three existing buildings.

C40 Reinventing Cities: Winning project 'The Urban Village'Teaming up within "The Urban Village Team" with LPO Architects / SLA, Bollinger + Grohmann won within the C40 Reinventing Cities competition. The site is located in the northeast of Oslo and aims to drive carbon neutral and resilient urban regeneration focusing on social, environmental and economic sustainability. Bollinger + Grohmann is involved as an environmental expert and for the structural design.

Competition "Hafenpark Quartier Frankfurt": 1st prizeFirst prize for the hotel design at "Molenspitze" in Frankfurt for Barkow Leibinger. Bollinger + Grohmann gave expert advice in structural engineering.
From 01/03/ to 14/03/2019, the nine submitted designs will be exhibited in the atrium of the Stadtplanungsamt at Kurt-Schumacher-Straße 10 in Frankfurt.

The Frankfurt Pavilion wins the IDA Awardin the architectural category "Exhibits, Pavilions and Exhibitions". The new landmark of the Frankfurt Book Fair was designed as a temporary building and was opened in September 2018 for the first time.
Bollinger + Grohmann gave expert advice to the schneider+schumacher architects during the whole process and was in charge of the structural engineering.

ISS Berlin-Mahlsdorf: topping-out ceremonyYesterday the topping-out ceremony was celebrated at the Integrated Secondary School Berlin-Mahlsdorf. Both the modular school building and the sports hall will be built in timber.

And another topping-out ceremony: Extension Hager building DThe electrical engineering group Hager expands its headquarters in Blieskastel by an office building for another 100 workplaces.
The planning company schneider + schumacher is responsible for the architecture and site supervision. Bollinger + Grohmann had already completed two buildings at this site together with them.

JKU Campus - TNF TowerThe 18 metres tall steel grid construction of the new terrace at Johannes Kepler University in Linz is located on the TNF tower which is the tallest building on campus. The construction is planned to be completed in March 2019 which makes it the first of many new places for university visitors to discover!

Tower of Power: Transport Design of the Year 2018The public charging station by Göbl Architektur in Vienna is awarded Dezeen’s Transport Design of the Year 2018. A photovoltaic panel roof and a built-in wind turbine supply the station with necessary electricity to charge four electric cars and four electric bikes at a time.
Bollinger + Grohmann was responsible for the structural engineering.

Franz Masereel Center: OpeningThe extension of the Franz Masereel Center, in Kasterlee, Belgium was opened on Thursday, 9 February 2019. The project has been designed by LIST and Hideyuki Nakayama Architects. B+G Paris & Brussels were already part of the competition team and afterwards responsible for the structural engineering.
Ido Avissar of LIST will give a lecture about the construction at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal in Paris, next Thursday, February 21th at 7pm.
ECSN-Award: 2nd prize for Merck Campus in DarmstadtWe are very happy about the European Concrete Award 2018 for the Innovation Centre and Company Restaurant on the Merck campus in Darmstadt.
