Inauguration of the two-story sports hall in Frankfurt

After only two years of construction, the two-story sports hall with two three-field sports halls on top of each other were handed over to the Landessportbund Hesse in Frankfurt last weekend.

B+G were responsible for the structural engineering, the foundation sheeting and the thermal building physics planning.

Award for the Secondary School in Berlin Mahlsdorf

The Integrated Secondary School is one of the winners of the 2019 Berlin Timber Construction Award in the "New Construction" category.
The initiators of this award want to support the increasing number of constructive timber buildings in Berlin concerning ecological and sustainable buildings and promote innovative construction methods.

"Construction Acier 2019" for the project "University library Belval" in Luxemburg

We are delighted to be awarded the prestigious steel construction prize of the Belgian steel construction association "Infosteel" for the university library in Esch-Belval. This year, the conversion of the Möllerhalle, a listed building, into a library with a museum character was awarded both the Jury Prize and the Audience Prize.

"Parkapartments am Belvedere" in the DBZ journal

The October issue of the "Deutsche Bauzeitschrift" (DBZ) focuses on structural engineering. Buildings were deliberately selected for this purpose that see the supporting structure as a central design element and thus make it a very special architectural statement.

Return of the Frankfurt Pavilion

The temporary structure was realized in collaboration with schneider + schumacher architekten. The iconic building was constructed for the first time on the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2018 and is also this year's venue for events with authors and industry experts from all over the world.
The space-defining construction was generated and optimized using genetic algorithms taking into account architectural and structural criteria.

Opening: University of Graz Library

The University of Graz celebrated the opening after the extension and renovation of the campus library. A new reading hall cantilevers 20m above the original 1890s building.
Bollinger + Grohmann was responsible for structural engineering.

Completion: Temporary modular Kindergarden in Jardins du Luxembourg, Paris

The temporary kindergarten designed by Djuric Tardio Architectes in Jardin du Luxembourg has just been completed. Located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, this modular timber structure is fully demountable and reconfigurable.
B+G Paris was in charge of the structural design.

Won: Fotografihuset in Sukkerbiten, Norway

In competition with 97 other projects, Atelier Oslo won the international architectural competition for the design of the Fotografihuset in Sukkerbiten in Oslo. Bollinger + Grohmann was responsible for the structural design.

The experimental structure FRIEDERIKE is presented as of the City of Vienna's cultural initiative to showcase art in an public space. Bollinger + Grohmann gave expert advice on the structural design.

At the 14th Jung architecture talks, Manfred Grohmann (B+G), Kai-Uwe Bermann (BIG) and Florian Reiff (Tishman Speyer) used the example of the Omniturm project to discuss what the combination of working and living means for architecture and interdisciplinary planning.

The event was held in the crowded Frankfurt Jugend- und Kulturkirche Sankt Peter in Frankfurt.

Opening of the new school and gymnasium in Berlin Mahlsdorf

The new school for 550 pupils was completed on time at the beginning of the new school year, along with the gymnasium. The school is the first of three model projects that the Berlin Senate has commissioned to be built as a modular timber construction. The design for all three schools is by the architects NKBAK from Frankfurt, who worked in a joint-venture together with Bollinger + Grohmann, Ecotec (MEP) and Franz Reschke Landschaftsarchitektur.

Research project RegoLight at “ZERO GRAVITY” exhibition

The exhibition “ZERO GRAVITY” revolves around concepts and ideas that defined and changed arts and science from the moment humankind stepped on the moon. Selected material from research project RegoLight, which Bollinger + Grohmann was part of between 2015 and 2017, will be a part of media artist Peter Kogler spatial installation at ERES-Stiftung in Munich.

Installation of the timber construction modules

After the Marie Curie School, the August Gräser School in Frankfurt is currently being extended by a modular timber construction. The installation and assembly of the 12 modules only takes two days. The new premises should be ready for occupancy by August. B+G was responsible for the structural design as well as for the building physics.

First prize for "Bildungscampus " in Pforzheim

Bruno Fioretti Marquez (BFM) won the competition for the "Bildungscampus" Pforzheim.
B+G supported the architects with the development of a 4- and 3-floor timber construction for two school buildings, a canteen and sports hall and the concept for the further development of three existing buildings.

C40 Reinventing Cities: Winning project 'The Urban Village'

Teaming up within "The Urban Village Team" with LPO Architects / SLA, Bollinger + Grohmann won within the C40 Reinventing Cities competition. The site is located in the northeast of Oslo and aims to drive carbon neutral and resilient urban regeneration focusing on social, environmental and economic sustainability. Bollinger + Grohmann is involved as an environmental expert and for the structural design.

Biennale d’architecture et de paysage, Versailles

The first Biennale of Architecture and landscaping hosts six exhibitions with the participation of French and international architects and landscapers in exceptional venues and focuses on the main theme “L’homme, la nature et la ville (Man, nature and the city)” and is open to the public.

The future residential and commercial building with around 5,870 m² of residential and commercial space will be Jena's first high-rise since German reunification.

First prize for the hotel design at "Molenspitze" in Frankfurt for Barkow Leibinger. Bollinger + Grohmann gave expert advice in structural engineering.
From 01/03/ to 14/03/2019, the nine submitted designs will be exhibited in the atrium of the Stadtplanungsamt at Kurt-Schumacher-Straße 10 in Frankfurt.

The Frankfurt Pavilion wins the IDA Award

in the architectural category "Exhibits, Pavilions and Exhibitions". The new landmark of the Frankfurt Book Fair was designed as a temporary building and was opened in September 2018 for the first time.
Bollinger + Grohmann gave expert advice to the schneider+schumacher architects during the whole process and was in charge of the structural engineering.

Yesterday the topping-out ceremony was celebrated at the Integrated Secondary School Berlin-Mahlsdorf. Both the modular school building and the sports hall will be built in timber.

The electrical engineering group Hager expands its headquarters in Blieskastel by an office building for another 100 workplaces.
The planning company schneider + schumacher is responsible for the architecture and site supervision. Bollinger + Grohmann had already completed two buildings at this site together with them.

The « Haute Agora » tower, a research project developed by the architect Jean Christophe Quinton and Bollinger + Grohmann Paris, will be exposed at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal in Paris from 27 February to 31 March 2019.

JKU Campus - TNF Tower

The 18 metres tall steel grid construction of the new terrace at Johannes Kepler University in Linz is located on the TNF tower which is the tallest building on campus. The construction is planned to be completed in March 2019 which makes it the first of many new places for university visitors to discover!

Tower of Power: Transport Design of the Year 2018

The public charging station by Göbl Architektur in Vienna is awarded Dezeen’s Transport Design of the Year 2018. A photovoltaic panel roof and a built-in wind turbine supply the station with necessary electricity to charge four electric cars and four electric bikes at a time.
Bollinger + Grohmann was responsible for the structural engineering.

Franz Masereel Center: Opening

The extension of the Franz Masereel Center, in Kasterlee, Belgium was opened on Thursday, 9 February 2019. The project has been designed by LIST and Hideyuki Nakayama Architects. B+G Paris & Brussels were already part of the competition team and afterwards responsible for the structural engineering.

Ido Avissar of LIST will give a lecture about the construction at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal in Paris, next Thursday, February 21th at 7pm.

We are very happy about the European Concrete Award 2018 for the Innovation Centre and Company Restaurant on the Merck campus in Darmstadt.

Deichmann Library: detailed documentation in the "Teknisk Ukeblad"

The January issue of the Norwegian journal "Teknisk Ukeblad" published a detailed article about the advanced design of the Deichman Library in Oslo. Bollinger+Grohmann supported the project team in terms of structural engineering and façade engineering.
