The New Arena Fonte Nova, in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, which hosted several matches for the 2013 Confederation Cup and 2014 FIFA World Cup, includes a lightweight roof based on a spoke-wheel system relying on a combination of a steel structure and a cable system with comparatively low prestress. This hybrid structural system implies a series of features, making the Arena Fonte Nova a unique stadium, with probably the lightest and most economical ring-cable roof worldwide.
