A new bicycle parking garage was built at Heidelberg's main railway station. The 730 comfortable and secure bicycle parking spaces are located underground and are accessible via a ramp. As part of the construction of the new building, we were commissioned to plan the roof structure.

The roof is designed as a circular ring with an outer diameter of approximately 21 metres. It rests on articulated pendulum supports on either side, whose inclined position provides bracing. The pendulum supports rest on a reinforced concrete ramp, and reinforced concrete supports underneath, the base points of which follow the ramp geometry. The distinctive feature of the roof supports is that they can be very slender and direct rainwater drainage downward on the inside.

The roof overhang is constructed using cantilever beams cut at an angle, with two of them always remaining parallel. The roof surface is closed by PV modules and glass elements placed between the cantilever beams.
