The project is divided into two interventions: renovating the existing station building and constructing a mixed-use tower. The renovation of the station building consists of demolishing the existing structures inside the building to adapt the height of the floors to the external topography. The roof is completely rebuilt with a new frame supported by the new structure.
The tower is a 13-storey structure with a terraced layout and external circulation. The tower structure was divided into three parts by the programme. Creating a rigid three-storey base made of reinforced concrete walls and slabs allows the loads from the upper floors to be transferred to the east and west facades, thus avoiding the positioning of the foundations in line with the future metro line. The central part comprises a metal frame echoing the site's railway past, braced by the vertical circulation core. The floors of the two upper parts are made of solid wood panels, which transfer the lateral loads of the structure to the bracing core.
The facade consists of a solid wood exterior cladding of vertical slats on a wooden frame. The space in the frame is filled with insulation, and the interior wall cladding is made of plasterboard.
