Volksbank Mittlerer Neckar eG is planning a new building in Bahnhofstraße in Wendlingen am Neckar. The architectural design envisages an ensemble of three staggered buildings, slightly recessed from each other but still coherent. The two smaller structures will house training and conference rooms and space for 240 employees. The tall building 1 will probably be used mainly by the Wendlingen police. The new building is to be constructed in a way that conserves energy and resources as much as possible.
Recycled concrete was also considered as part of the tendering process to ensure the new building was as energy and resource-efficient as possible. Reinforced concrete components were designed to accommodate the use of recycled concrete in as many components as possible. The project is seeking DGNB certification with a silver or gold standard.
