Berlin wants to answer to the demand for additional school places with different types of modular supplementary buildings (MEB). The type buildings, which are formed from serially prefabricated modules, are intended to complement existing school buildings. The modular schools are planned as three-story buildings without a basement, with more than 50 years of service life.

The Müggelsee School will receive an extension, and the existing building will be refurbished for energy efficiency after the new building is completed.

The school building is being constructed using the MEB 16 modular timber construction method and includes a total of 16 classrooms and two common rooms. The building code requirements for sound insulation are considered, providing acoustic protection for students and teaching staff while they are on the school premises. Thermal insulation is also ensured to optimize winter and summer conditions in accordance with the Building Energy Act for new building projects.
