Reviving a mantra from the 1970s, ‘A Great City Deserves a Great Museum’, the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) stands ready for a remarkable transformation.
Designed by architect Edward Larrabee Barnes in 1984, the museum’s essence will be revitalised in collaboration with Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos, renowned for their cultural architectural productions, and the landscape architecture office SWA.
Respecting the original design while infusing innovation, the approach aims to illuminate the DMA's interior with natural light, streamline accessibility, and forge visual connections throughout the space. The project encompasses unifying circulation paths, new façades radiating identity, and an expansive rooftop gallery through a floating extension.
