The Flower of the Alpine Sun is a public artwork and viewing platform located at an altitude of 1,600 metres in the Falls Creek ski resort in the Australian Alps. Designed by artist Giovanni Veronesi, the sculptural structure draws inspiration from the surrounding alpine flora. A footbridge provides access to the platform, which offers panoramic views of the mountain landscape.
The sculpture stands 9 metres high and 8.1 metres wide and features a 10-metre-long, 1.25-metre-wide access walkway leading to a viewing platform measuring 2.8 × 2.9 metres. The petals and their internal support structure are made of aluminium, while the bridge, viewing platform, supporting steel columns and lower petals are constructed from galvanised steel. Structural stability is provided by three steel columns in combination with the lower petals. The entire structure is founded directly on bedrock and secured using deep rock anchors.
