Frankfurt Airport Terminal 3 (Competition)

Terminal 3 will be constructed in progressive stages until 2015, depending on customers’ requirements. The total capacity of Frankfurt Airport increases to 82 million passengers per year. Approximately 25 million passengers will use Terminal 3 after its final completion.

In the phased competition for the planned Terminal 3, located at the south of Frankfurt Airport the architectural design of Christoph Mäckler was chosen, B+G were responsible for the structural design within the competition team. According to the jury of the competition the winning design convinces with its functional concept, fulfilling the operational requirements to a great extent. In addition, the design distinguishes itself by great flexibility, which allows the modular extension of the phased development until 2015. Also the specified cost budget was kept.
