Facts Length For each footbridge: 300 m | Width For each footbridge: 4.7 m | Competition: 2018, 1st prize

The Gradient soft mobility project is the winner of the international competition for engineering, architecture, integrated art and landscaping launched by the city of Nyon for the construction of two footbridges called Nyon-Prangins and Sentier de Bois-Bougy. The project will be the backbone of the future regional cycle network as part of the development of Greater Geneva.

Each footbridge is designed as an isostatic structure with an independent span. Each 20.40m span is supported at both ends with a sliding support on one side for thermal expansion. The columns are embedded in the base. The span and piles are constructed as a grid-like structure based on a 1.20m orthogonal mesh braced with respect to the flow of forces. To increase the lightness of the structure, the bridge deck is made of concrete and is attached to the steel structure so that it can work as an upper frame.
