The Heilskirche, originally built in the late 19 century, had a false ceiling installed at the gallery level during the GDR era. This allowed the upper floor to be used as a church hall and the lower area for community rooms and an archive. As part of a renovation project, a district centre was built on the ground floor, including a foyer, a café, and rooms for various events. To achieve this, the existing staircase to the upper floor was demolished and replaced with a curved, free-standing reinforced concrete staircase.

The stairs have a wide staircase to an intermediate podium. Two quarter-turned intermediate staircases are connected to the left and right sides.

The supporting structure spans a horizontal length of 5.30 m from the lower to the upper bearing, the two upper bearings have a clear distance of approx. 8.40 m.
