In HafenCity Hamburg, on the northern shore of Baakenhafen harbour, the first residential building based on the Cradle-2-Cradle principle is being built. The complex of three buildings is grouped around a green inner courtyard. Furthermore, horizontal green spaces serve not only for communal use but also for the generation of regenerative energy. The cooling and air-cleaning function of the green façade increases the air quality and biodiversity in the entire neighbourhood. The use of recyclable and healthy materials follows the Cradle-2-Cradle principle and will be separable by type, degradable and recyclable.
