A public plaza and park are combined with the new metro station to provide a new urban response to the city. The undulating shape of the roof is inspired by the beauty of sand dunes surrounding the city of Riyadh and the notion of the Oasis. We assisted Gerber Architekten with the structural design of the proposal.

The roof of the structure funtions as a green park. It has a structural height of 4m and features triangular truss grid of 8m × 8m. All steel members are optimised according to their loading. The roof is support on pendulum columns which are placed behind the façade. Horizontal stiffness is achieved by connections to the ground. The platforms and main floors as well as the foundations are all planned in reinforced concrete.
