The Spreepark in the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick was opened under the name "Kulturpark Plänterwald" in 1969. It was the only amusement park in the former GDR. It continued to operate after the fall of the Wall. Since its closure in 2001, the fenced-in area with the remaining rides has lain fallow.

As part of the development of a new utilisation concept, B+G was commissioned to prepare an expert report that included the recording, investigation and evaluation of the 45-metre-high Ferris wheel. The expert report forms the basis for the decision on whether the Ferris wheel can be redeveloped.

In the course of the building inspection process, the main supporting members, ring, spokes, masts and the foundation of the Ferris wheel were successively investigated. The inspection provides information on the actual condition of the components, both in terms of geometric, material and constructional aspects as well as defects and damage. Subsequently, a spatial framework model was created as a computational model to show the basic behaviour of the structure and to validate the plausibility of the findings mathematically.

In addition to the recording of damages and defects, a cost plan for a possible repair was set up.
