The new panda house becomes a landscape itself raising gradually from the surrounding landscape to allow pedestrian access on the roof. Four separate outdoor and indoor spaces are provided for the giant pandas allowing visitors to experience the pandas from both inside and outside the building.

The asymmetric dome of the panda house at Taiyuan Zoo has a diameter of 75 m. Due to the very shallow rise, it was designed as a composite reinforced concrete.
