In the context of Art Basel 2015, the installation “DO WE DREAM UNDER THE SAME SKY” by the artist Rirkrit Tiravanija was exhibited on Messeplatz in Basel. The project houses an herb garden, a kitchen and a common dining and living area. Besides Bollinger+Grohmann also students of the Kunstinstitut of the Basel School of Design and Art FHNW and the Städel School in Frankfurt contributed to the project.

The roof structure is a horizontal three-dimensional framework. All horizontal elements of the three-dimensional framework are made of bamboo, all vertical and diagonal components are made of steel. For the vertical load transfer six V-shaped support pairs of round steel tubes are used. At the head and foot point the supports are hinged and formed by means of eye bar connections. Three V-supports are oriented in x and y direction of the roof. This arrangement ensures the horizontal bracing of the structure. The props are founded on precast concrete elements. The dimensions of the prefabricated elements is such that their weight prevents lifting of the roof under wind load thus avoiding additional anchoring.
