Construction progess: Schwedlerbrücke
In collaboration with Mäckler Architekten, we are providing the structural engineering for the rehabilitation and replacement of the Schwedlerbrücke, one of Frankfurt's most important pedestrian bridges. Originally constructed between 1910 and 1913, the bridge was partially destroyed during the Second World War and has been listed as a Technical Cultural Monument since 2010. The competition involved the renovation and reconstruction of the bridge's four historic southern arches, as well as the replacement of the three northern spans, which were rebuilt in the 1950s after wartime destruction.
A new bridge section is currently being assembled, while the existing bridge remains positioned above the railway tracks within a temporary assembly structure directly in front of the dismantled arch. The surfaces of the steel structure were recently inspected to ensure quality. If everything proceeds as planned, the new bridge section will be moved into its final position at the end of October or the beginning of November.
