Expo Cultural Park Greenhouse Garden Wins 2025 Structural Award

We are pleased to announce that the Expo Cultural Park Greenhouse Garden in Shanghai has been named Winner of the 2025 Structural Awards by the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE). This international award recognises outstanding achievements in structural engineering, celebrating projects that demonstrate excellence in sustainability, innovation, and design quality.

Designed by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects (DMAA), the Greenhouse Garden transforms a former industrial steel hall into a contemporary, light-filled exhibition landscape. The project integrates the existing structure with a new aluminium cable-net pavilion system, creating a unique architectural and engineering fusion between historic industrial heritage and advanced lightweight construction.

Bollinger+Grohmann provided both the structural engineering and façade engineering for the project. Our scope included the development of slender structural frameworks, optimisation of daylight through circular roof apertures, and the design of an efficient, expressive supporting system that maintains transparency while ensuring long-term stability.

We are honoured by this recognition from IStructE and extend our congratulations to the entire project team, partners, and collaborators who contributed to realising this ambitious project.
