The structure is a ceiling construction above the market area in the newly built Terminal 3 of Frankfurt Airport. LAVA's design is based on a spatial concept that prioritises ambiance, efficiency, and traveler well-being.

The structure of the ceiling construction consists of freely shaped aluminum tubes suspended from a substructure between the existing composite beams using steel bands and round bar hangers, arranged at approximately 15 cm intervals. Additionally, three cylindrical steel funnels were suspended under the solid deck. The tapering elements, which narrow towards the center, are approximately 9 m high and have an upper diameter of about 6 m. The funnel geometry is designed to accommodate natural light from outside and distribute it throughout the entire hall. Approximately 18,000 m of aluminum tubing was used for the ceiling construction, which was bent on-site in approximately 3,000 different ways.

All components of this complex project were created within an overall parametric model and linked together by Arnold. B+G was commissioned by the executing company, Arnold AG, to provide structural engineering services for the sculpture.
