The Centre Pompidou, one of Europe\'s largest collections of modern and contemporary art with over 140,000 works, needs more space constraints in its current Paris reserves, as well as welcoming the reserve of Musée national Picasso–Paris. The plan is, therefore, to create a larger space in Massy (Greater Paris area), with facilities tailored to the preservation of artistic heritage and open to innovations in conservation and restoration, as well as to local collaborations for varied and inclusive programming.
The Centre Pompidou Francilien - Fabrique de l'Art / Musée national Picasso-Paris is a building with two faces, expressing the paradox of its ambitious programme: On the front, the vault, an enclosed monolith that lets controlled natural light into the studios to ensure the best possible conservation and restoration conditions for two of the world's most significant collections of modern art;
On the other side is a welcoming and open profile to bring together a new public in the Paris region around the collections and the professions, continuing the avant-garde philosophy of the project by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers.
