The Studierendenwerk Frankfurt (MainSWerk) collaborated with Ferdinand Heide to construct new student apartments on Ginnheimer Landstraße in Frankfurt am Main. Bollinger+Grohmann was responsible for the structural design and the verification of sound insulation.
The development includes two buildings: one is an elongated block with five stories and two basement levels, while the other features an almost square floor plan and consists of eight stories.
The buildings are of solid construction. Both structures feature open arcade areas on the ground floor and in the basement. The loads from the façade are supported by columns, which required the addition of bracing in the form of wall-like reinforced concrete beams on the first upper stories.
