Revitalisation Schwedler Brücke

The ‘Schwedler Brücke’ in Frankfurt serves as a vital connection point for pedestrians and cyclists, linking Ostpark and Hanauer Landstraße. The bridge was closed 14 years ago for safety reasons and is now being revitalised this year after a long planning period and various attempts at tendering.

The starting signal was given at a press conference on 28 October in Ostpark, attended by our project manager Horst Peseke, together with Mäckler Architekten and representatives from the City of Frankfurt's ‘Amt für Straßenbau & Erschließung’. The revitalisation takes into account the historic status of the original bridge sections built between 1910 and 1913. The goal is to complete the bridge by summer 2028.

Together with Mäckler Architekten, we have developed the design for the revitalisation of the engineering structure and are working closely with the city. In iterative planning steps, compatible urban planning and architectural solutions were developed that combined Frankfurt themes such as the revitalisation of bridgeheads and the various bridge types from different eras.
