Third Prize
LIN ARCHITECTURE + URBANISM, in collaboration with Uniola Landschaftsarchitektur, has been awarded third prize in the competition for the ‘Neubau Veranstaltungshaltestelle U5 Arenen in Hamburg’, with B+G Hamburg responsible for the structural engineering.
At the centre of the design is a striking, cloud-like roof that spans 175 metres in length and 35 metres in width, appearing to float above the station with lightness and clarity. Designed as a resource-efficient, hybrid timber–steel construction in semi-monocoque form, it combines the strength and adaptability of steel with the ecological benefits of wood.
Congratulations to the first prize winners at blrm and their competition teams, and of course to the second prize winners at gmp von Gerkan and their teams as well.
