Opening: Flowers of the Alpine Sun
Recently, the sculptural viewing platform ‘Flower of the Alpine Sun’ officially opened at Alpine Resorts Victoria's Falls Creek. Located at an elevation of 1,600 m, the landmark was developed by artist Giovanni Veronesi in collaboration with himmelzimmer. We have been involved in this project since 2019, providing structural engineering services from concept through to completion.
Inspired by alpine flora, the structure transforms the mountain landscape into an immersive experience for visitors. The sculpture stands 9 m high and 8.1 m wide, with a 10 m long walkway leading to the viewing platform. The petals are made of aluminium, while the bridge, platform, and supporting elements are constructed from galvanised steel. The foundation is anchored directly into the bedrock using deep rock anchors.
