As part of the Austria Center Vienna modernisation and extension measures, the forecourt will be given an attractive roof with the ‘Danube Canopy’. The new urban meeting space comprises 4,200 m² of additional event space, which can be used openly or enclosed.

The access building with four entrances will also allow separate access from four levels. Meanwhile, it enables short connecting paths within the structure and into the exhibition halls. A glazed exterior gallery provides plenty of light, extending the existing terraces, especially on the upper levels.

The 7,500 m² grid-like roof structure consists of a filigree steel framework with a roof cladding of transparent foil cushions. It rests on only four V-pillars, forming a light-flooded, representative entrance hall.

The entrance building was planned as a reinforced concrete solid construction with cantilevered areas as a steel skeleton construction with reinforced concrete ceilings. The framework of the façade with reinforced concrete ceilings supports the exciting structure of the Panorama Lounge.
