As part of the modernisation and extension measures at the Austria Center Vienna, the forecourt was enhanced with an appealing roof known as the ‘donauSEGEL’. The new urban meeting area features 4,200 m² of additional event space, which can be open or enclosed.
The access building features four entrances, allowing independent access from four different levels. It also facilitates short connecting paths within the structure and leads into the exhibition halls. A glazed exterior gallery ensures ample light and extends the existing terraces, particularly on the upper levels.
The 7,500 m² grid-like roof structure consists of a filigree steel framework with a roof cladding of transparent foil cushions. It rests on only four V-pillars, forming a light-flooded, representative entrance hall.
The entrance building comprises a solid reinforced concrete structure with cantilevered areas and a steel skeleton structure with reinforced concrete ceilings. The façade’s framework, which includes reinforced concrete ceilings, supports the structure of the Panorama Lounge.
