The BMW Used Car Centre“ GAZ“, located in Hamburg-Barsbüttel on the A1 motorway, was part of the BMW’s Hamburg strategy to newly build, renovate or expand all subsidiaries in Hamburg within in the space of three years. The new GAZ has gross a floor area of 27,000 m² divided into display space for approximately 450 used cars, office and garage space.
The building has four stories with a partial basement and is 96 x 71 m in plan. The garage area is single-storey with a section being double storey. The roof of the exhibition space is a steel structure with load bearing sheet metal. Floor slabs, columns and walls are reinforced concrete elements. The roof structure of the garage comprises pre-stressed reinforced concrete precast girders with sheet metal roofing.
