In collaboration with Transborder Studio, Oslo Badstuforening, NIVA, and Treteknisk, we are contributing to developing a pilot project dedicated to nature restoration and testing sustainable construction materials in saltwater environments. The project combines social, ecological, and research ambitions, located near 'Sukkerbiten' in the Oslofjord.
A prototype was launched in June 2025, consisting of a 3 x 4 metre floating jetty and a 9 x 9 metre underwater garden. B+G’s structural engineering contribution focused on the underwater garden, a grid-like structure anchored to the seabed and positioned three metres below the surface. Connected to the jetty by chains, this artificial seabed aims to enhance water quality and support local biodiversity, while serving as a platform for scientific study, public engagement, and social activities.
