At Vippetangen, Skur 38, the Port of Oslo's headquarters, has undergone a rehabilitation according to circular principles. Skur 38 is believed to be Norway's first reinforced concrete building. The building is on the City Antiquarian's heritage protection list and is labeled as worthy of protection in the Maritime Cultural Heritage Plan for Oslo. The aim of the renovation was to highlight the building's history, while utilising modern technology and energy-efficient solutions. The project also had a strong focus on reuse of materials.
In addition to the concrete rehabilitation, the building has also undergone an energy upgrade with post-insulation, innovative solutions such as Aerogel plastering, extra insulation under the building, and energy supply via a local air-to-water heat pump. The project is certified according to BREEAM NOR with the classification "Excellent".
